Here is a question I received from one of my female readers who wanted some Christian dating advice for women on whether its possible to be sexy, go to clubs and still be virtuous...
Question
I want to be virtuous, but I also want to be somewhat sexy. Not like provocative sexy, but attractive sexy. In addition, there's no rule that Christians can't go to night clubs and dance. What if some go there just to have fun with friends & dance, but not drink or hookup (or anything bad)?
If there were 'Christian dance parties/clubs', I'd go there. But since there isn't and young Christians want to have fun - I don't see anything wrong with it.
Convince me why the man of my dreams would not be attracted to a sexy, dancing Christian; who absolutely loves God, good personality but likes to have fun too.
Answer
With regards to dressing sexy as a Christian woman, I think this article will help clarify a few things for you, it is an article answering the question "Is it appropriate for a Christian woman to dress sexy for a date?"
With regards to your other question, it isn't my Job to convince you about anything, I am not here to force my opinion on you, just to offer some guidance from what I know has worked for and helped other people to get courtship and dating right, if you agree with my views that's cool, if you don't, that's also cool, you don't have to agree with me and you don't have to follow my advice but I know that if you do follow my advice, it will benefit you.
I will ask you just a few questions about going to the night clubs - The kind of music they play in the night clubs, the content and the lyrics of the music, does it inspire you and encourage to worship God, is the message of the music in line with your faith as a Christian.
Also the atmosphere in the night club, is it an atmosphere you would expect to find your pastor in if he decided he wanted to go and have some "fun", would you be happy to see your pastor at a night club and would you think it was appropriate and okay for him to be there? And thirdly would the presence of God be in that night club? Could you lead someone to Christ in that night club? - just a few things to think about.
If we do everything the world does, then what separates us from the world and why do they need Jesus Christ?
At the end of the day, it's your life and you can do whatever you want to do and if you feel God is pleased with what you are doing then by all means carry on doing it, but if deep down you know or feel it's wrong but are looking for a way to justify what is wrong then that's not a good thing.
We can't play God, and we can't deceive him, we can't make our own rules and just live as we please. If we are going to leave the world and serve him then let's leave the world completely, let's not be double minded and unstable in our ways, God doesn't like lukewarm, you are either in the kingdom or out, no in between, lukewarm people are going to get spat out. I say all this out of love not condemnation; neither I'm I trying to be judgemental.
