My 1st impression was, "Paul, stop being stereotypical" till I read the article in full.
As one black single Christian lady who has also been sexually active outside of wedlock, I can suggest my reasons as follows:
1. There is no evidence that the other races are not guilty but there are definately more pregnancies in our churches.
2. Lack of boundaries as far as I'm concerned are the main reason why. I mean, we kiss, caress and do everything else foreplay yet we think or seem to convince ourself that it's all innocent. Song of solomon urges us not to awaken love i.e. why tease if you can't finish the job? Often times, the teasing will turn into the real thing and like drugs, sex is highly addictive. I mean, the more you have is the more you want.
3. There is also the issue of courting/engaged couples who tend to convince each other that there is no harm in doing today what you will always have access to. This is usually triggered by past sexual experiences, lack of self discipline and no set boundaries.
In conclusion, may I suggest that:
1. The likes of me who've been exposed in the past check themselves and conduct themselves wisely in all future relationships. I have since discovered that my sensual side has been let loose and will therefore not allow any future boyfriend to do anything that will send me weak at the knees(literally)
2. Pray for God's help!
3. Set boundaries: no late night visits etc were either parties struggle with the presence of an opposite sex person. No touching, caressing, kissing etc....
