Should I Take My Ex Back?

What do you do in a situation where your ex boyfriend has really hurt you, broke up with you, maybe even cheated on you or went off with some other girl, or maybe he even impregnated you and left you wanting nothing to do with the baby or even claiming that the baby isn't his, and then he comes back begging asking for forgiveness saying that he has realised his mistakes. Should you take your ex boyfriend back? And if you have been asking yourself should I take my ex boyfriend back then I have some advice for you that might help your relationship.

I recently got an email from a lady asking for advice along those lines, she wanted to know whether to get back with her baby father after they had broken up for a couple of years and he now claims he has changed and wants to come back into her life after causing her a lot of hurt. She obviously wants the best for her child, which is for the child to grow up with both mum and dad, but is it wise to take her ex back.

The following was my answer to her and I believe if you find yourself facing a similar dilemma, it will help you too.

If he has truly changed and wants to make things work and you feel a release from God to give him another chance, then by all means work on the relationship, but it wont be easy to forget the past hurts that he's caused you, but if you make a decision to give him another chance then you must let go of the past and start afresh, you must forgive and not hold the past against him and its going to take the grace of God to be able to do that.

Its good that he has come to the realization of his mistakes and wants to be a part of your life again, its always good when a man comes to that realization by himself rather than someone trying to force him to make that decision. If its a decision thats truly come from his heart then he'll stick to it and do right by you.

I myself have made mistakes in the past before my wife and I got married, major ones, but when I came to myself I had to go beg her back and ask for her forgiveness and another chance, and with the help of God we were able to mend things and it was the best decision we both ever made.

People (men especially) do make mistakes out of immaturity and ignorance, but when a man has realized his mistakes and is sincerely repentant, what you have is a changed man, a new man who will do right by you and I sense that the transformation might have happened with your baby's father and if thats the case then its worth giving him another chance.

But like I said, commit it to prayer and also take a while to study him to see if he has truly repented and changed, study his behaviour to see that he is consistent with his new leaf and change of heart. In order words watch and Pray, you can get back with him if thats what you feel God is telling you to do but watch him and pray and God will be with you.
